Key Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with senior management to train and develop team members, schedule, plan, assign, and direct work.
  • Supports senior management in reviewing historical sales data, promotions, and inventory management processes to ensure optimal in-stock levels.
  • Indirectly responsible for maintaining and improving sales performance, financial results, public relations, product quality, and work standards.
  • Ensures product quality control and food safety standards are met; adheres to all relevant governmental product origin labeling regulations.
  • Promotes product sales through suggestive selling initiatives and visually appealing product displays.
  • Cuts and trims product using sharp knives; prepares and displays product to ensure high-quality presentation and appearance.
  • Maintains stock conditions on produce and floral display racks, tables, and shelves.
  • Checks inventory on trucks, unloads products, and ensures accuracy of inventory, product ordering, and associated paperwork.
  • Provides exceptional customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and responding to customer complaints.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary working and shopping environment by adhering to company safety procedures.

Requirements:

  • Intermediate knowledge of produce department operations.
  • Intermediate knowledge of in-store ordering machines and inventory management processes.
  • Intermediate knowledge of scheduling software systems.
  • Ability to operate a manual or electric pallet jack.
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain department equipment.
  • Ability to handle objects gently to avoid damage to items, people, vehicles, and property.
  • Ability to use an alphanumeric keyboard.
  • Ability to use precision and non-precision hand tools.
  • Ability to safely work with sharp objects such as knives, box cutters, etc.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well with fellow team members and promote a team environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers and team members in written and verbal form.
  • Ability to learn new technology systems, methods, and processes.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED and one or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education required.
  • Minimum of 18 years of age required.
  • Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy.
  • Food Handler certification required.
  • Manager Food Safety certification required.

Work Environment:

  • Work is generally performed in a retail store.
  • Frequently exposed to extreme cold conditions (non-weather).
  • Occasionally exposed to wet, slippery, or damp conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to cleaning agents.
  • Quiet to moderate noise level.
