Job Summary

Samaritan Health Services is seeking a skilled Hospital Billing Specialist to join our team. This role involves analyzing and processing patient claims, ensuring compliance with insurance regulations, and maintaining accurate financial records.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have experience in Medicare/Medicaid and secondary payor billing, with strong analytical and communication skills. They will be responsible for reviewing remittances, submitting compliant claims, and following up on denials. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with at least two years of training in the business office field preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze and process patient claims, ensuring compliance with insurance regulations
  • Review remittances, submit compliant claims, and follow up on denials
  • Maintain accurate financial records and provide reports as needed

Patient Account Representative responsibilities include:

  • Experience in Medicare/Medicaid and Secondary Payor billing required
  • Ability to review and submit compliant claims to insurance and follow up on same
  • Analyze remittance, explanation of benefits to determine if insurance payments are according to the payer/hospital contract and determine patient responsibility
  • Submit adjustment claims, submit appeals for underpayment and/or denials
  • At least two years training in the business office field preferred
  • Long Term Care and/or Critical Access Hospital billing experience preferred

Qualified candidates will bill for services such as Adult Daycare, Home Health, and Transportation services incurred for residents of our Long Term Care Facility/Nursing Home. The estimated salary for this role is $18.50 - $20.25 per hour, based on industry standards and market rates.
