Position Summary:
The Central Plant Engineer plays a pivotal role in supporting the Operations Manager in executing safety protocols, operational standards, and maintenance strategies. This position involves troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance to uphold the integrity of the property’s physical assets. The engineer will also collaborate with external vendors to ensure optimal performance of the Central Plant and adherence to maintenance agreements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain various building systems.
- Operate equipment for preventative maintenance and ensure property cleanliness.
- Conduct maintenance and minor repairs across the property, including painting, plumbing, and electrical tasks.
- Maintain inventory systems and manage safety data sheets for materials and tools.
- Assist in event setups and mall decor installations.
- Perform custodial duties as required, including landscaping and snow removal.
- Adhere to safety and health policies, ensuring compliance with applicable standards.
- Engage in ongoing training to enhance skills and safety competencies.
- Support emergency planning and response efforts in coordination with management.
- Interact with tenants and the public as necessary.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive maintenance program for the central plant and associated equipment.
- Monitor and log daily operations of all systems and report malfunctions.
- Assist in budgeting for maintenance and capital projects.
- Supervise HVAC equipment maintenance and assess replacement needs.
- Utilize computer systems for monitoring, scheduling, and communication.
- Perform general repairs throughout the property as assigned.
- Respond to emergency repairs and be available for on-call duties.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; technical school graduate preferred.
- 2-3 years of building maintenance experience; 5 years in HVAC and facilities maintenance preferred.
- Proficient in general shop tools and HVAC maintenance equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication abilities and proficiency in Microsoft Outlook.
- Valid Driver's License required; bilingual candidates are welcomed.
