Mammography Technologist Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mammography Technologist to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Mammography Technologist, you will be responsible for operating mammographic equipment, selecting and modifying technical factors, and ensuring the highest quality images for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate Mammographic Equipment: You will be responsible for operating all mammographic equipment, including selecting and modifying technical factors to optimize image quality and minimize patient dose.
  • Ensure Quality Images: You will ensure that all images are of the highest quality, with proper positioning, collimation, and shielding.
  • Maintain Equipment: You will be responsible for daily maintenance of equipment, including checking for malfunctions and reporting any issues to the coordinator.
  • Provide Patient Care: You will provide excellent patient care, including explaining the procedure to patients, positioning them correctly, and ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the exam.
  • Bill Patient Exams: You will be responsible for billing patient exams using the DMI system and entering data into department software to track room utilization and staffing needs.
Requirements:
  • ARRT Registration: You must be registered or registry-eligible with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Experience: You must have at least 5 years of experience performing radiologic procedures, with a minimum of 1 year performing screening mammograms.
  • Training: You must complete a program of formal training in mammography, including specialized training in positioning, compression, technical factors, and film evaluation.
  • CPR Certification: You must be certified in CPR and maintain certification annually.
