">Job Summary
">The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for assisting in the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Under the clinical guidance of registered nurses, directs and guides patient teaching activities commensurate with education and demonstrated competencies.
">Responsibilities

- Assesses physical, psychological, and social dimensions of patients in the health care unit and housing units.">
- Develops individual treatment programs utilizing available resources and consulting with registered nurses, PA/NPs, physicians, and correctional officers.">
- Implements medical plans by administering medications and interventions according to provider instructions.">
- Documents nursing encounters, patient response, effectiveness, complications, etc., and communicates information to supervisory personnel and physicians, PA/NPs, and RNs.">
- Ensures accurate and safe administration of medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), which may include crushing doses and/or monitoring patients after dosing.">
- Works openly and effectively with multidisciplinary teams in the treatment of patients with substance use disorder, including those on MOUD.">
- Maintains working and living areas and supplies in good order.">
- Serves as a member of a nursing care and treatment team and assists physician as assigned.">
- Uses available in-house resource personnel and departments for treatment/consultation.">
- Implements clinical and technical aspects of care in accordance with established policies and procedures.">
- Takes vital signs, applies and changes dressings, provides emotional and physical comfort and safety of patients, and assists with activities of daily living.">
- Supervises inmates in the maintenance, cleanliness, and sanitation of the environment.">
Requirements

- Current, unrestricted Louisiana Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) License">
- Current CPR Certification">
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing">
- Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience; correctional experience preferred">
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound judgments under pressure">
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills">
