Water Resources Engineer Job Description

Taylor Engineering is seeking a highly skilled Water Resources Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Federal Programs team, you will work on the FEMA MT-2 Program - Letter of Map Revisions (LOMRs) project, utilizing hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, model review, quality control, spatial data development and analysis, map production, and watershed management programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review LOMR case requests to determine if they meet all FEMA criteria justifying a change to published flood hazard data.
  • Review hydrologic and hydraulic models for technical accuracy.
  • Verify compliance with FEMA National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) standards and FEMA Guidelines and Specifications.
  • Prepare all appropriate FEMA documentation and correspondence.
Requirements:
  • B.S. Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering (or related engineering field), with emphasis in water resources.
  • 0-5 years water resources-related experience.
  • EIT registration preferred and ability and desire to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
Preferred Candidate Characteristics:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic hydrologic and hydraulic concepts, including open channel hydraulics, and groundwater processes.
  • Knowledge and experience with ESRI Arc GIS, especially ArcGIS PRO, as well as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, FLO 2D, SWMM, ICPR, MIKE SHE / 11 / HYDRO.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Energetic, detail-oriented team player.
