Job Title: Physical Therapist

We are seeking a skilled Physical Therapist to join our team at a community services non-profit organization serving people with developmental disabilities in the Bronx.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and implementing prescribed physical therapy treatment programs for individuals receiving services to maintain and/or restore function secondary to acute or chronic disability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct annual screens, assessments, and daily documentation as warranted.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on individual needs and level of functioning.
  • Administer treatment involving the application of modalities such as hydrotherapy, hot packs, cold packs, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation.
  • Provide training to individuals receiving services, families, and/or direct care staff in specified follow-through programs.
  • Communicate effectively with staff regarding discharge planning from a rehabilitative program.
  • Participate and attend care plan/team meetings as needed for individuals receiving PT services.
  • Supervise PTAs & therapists on limited permits, and perform oversight in the Healthcare Center, day programs, and residential settings as applicable.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program.
  • New York State license, limited permit, or eligible for licensure to practice physical therapy.
  • Knowledge in PT evaluation and treatment; ability to supervise direct assistants and aides; understand the principles of physical agent modalities employed in PT; knowledge in the use of mobility devices and therapeutic exercises.
