Job Summary

We are seeking highly motivated and mission-driven Music Instructors to join our team and inspire, educate, and empower youth in Washington, DC. As a Music Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering music education and socio-emotional learning programs to youth in afterschool settings.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver music education and socio-emotional learning programs to youth in afterschool settings
  • Prepare youth for performance opportunities
  • Build community with youth and their families
  • Communicate successes and challenges of programs with Site Coordinators
  • Assess student skills and complete Music Aptitude Assessments for youth
  • Maintain confidential data as required by FERPA
  • Attend field trips, performances, or after-school assemblies
  • Attend required meetings with site coordinators, school administrators, and TMS leadership
  • Communicate program needs to Site Coordinators and department leadership
  • Other programmatic tasks and projects as directed by management
Requirements
  • Some college or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of music instruction experience; experience teaching youth in group settings a plus
  • Basic classroom and behavior management skills
  • A passion for empowering youth
  • Ability to pass a COVID-19 vaccination or has a related exemption
  • Proficiency in G-Suite and Microsoft Office
Benefits

The Compensation Range for this position is $30 - $40 per hour and includes payment for off-site administrative work like lesson planning, professional development, and training.
