Position: Cardiology Sonographer – AdventHealth Medical Group - Pediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiology
Employment Type: Full Time
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm
Location: Orlando, FL (with potential for travel to various locations)
Role Overview:
- Conduct transthoracic echocardiograms for pediatric cardiology patients, assisting the Pediatric Cardiologist in obtaining and interpreting sonographic images.
- Record essential patient metrics including weight, height, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, tailored to individual patient conditions.
- Evaluate sonographic images for quality assurance, ensuring accurate annotation and patient identification while demonstrating all relevant anatomical structures.
- Support IAC accreditation efforts by completing necessary documentation, participating in formal echo reviews with physician evaluations, and maintaining quality standards.
- Adhere to established laboratory protocols for echocardiogram acquisition, utilizing two-dimensional imaging, color flow, Doppler, and m-mode techniques as appropriate.
- Provide clear explanations of procedures to patients and their families prior to testing to ensure understanding and cooperation.
Qualifications Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of one of the following:
- Minimum of two years in an Allied Health Education Program with one year of echocardiography training, OR
- Graduation from a CAAHEP accredited sonography program, OR
- A decade of experience in Pediatric Echocardiography with current credentials in Pediatric Echocardiography or Congenital Cardiac Sonography.
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) certification from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARMDS) in Adult or Pediatric Echocardiography, OR
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) certification from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
- Pediatric Echocardiography or Congenital Cardiac Sonography registry required within one year of hire.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Capability to perform fetal echocardiography.
- Five years of experience in pediatric echocardiography.
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification in Fetal Echocardiography.
