Overview:
The Licensed Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering expert nursing care aimed at ensuring the comfort and health of patients. This role involves preparing medical equipment and assisting physicians during examinations and treatments. The RN administers prescribed medications, performs dressing changes, cleans wounds, and monitors vital signs of patients.
The RN actively participates as a primary nurse, associate nurse, team member, or team leader in the planning and execution of patient care. This position includes directing and supporting safe aseptic techniques and procedures. The RN also provides leadership and guidance to all support staff within the department.
Our Medical Surgical department typically cares for an average of 14 patients daily, addressing a diverse range of medical conditions such as Pneumonia, Cellulitis, COPD, Diabetes, Heart Failure, Renal Failure, Chest Pain, and Liver Failure. We foster a collaborative environment where team members support one another and work towards a common vision. Nurses in our unit hold each other accountable and are empowered to implement changes through our active shared governance. We engage in community initiatives to educate the local population on preventive care and collaborate with city and county leaders to provide essential resources to our community. We also welcome and mentor new graduate nurses from local nursing programs as well as newcomers to the area.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program with the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
- Preferred one year of nursing experience.
- Current RN License in Texas.
- CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
- ACLS certification from the American Heart Association to be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer.
- PALS certification from the American Heart Association to be obtained within 18 months of hire/transfer.
- NIHSS certification required within 90 days of hire/transfer.
