Job Title: Cook - Residential Dining

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cook to join our team at UMOM New Day Centers. As a key member of our Residential Dining team, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking meals for our clients and customers. Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook meals for our clients and customers, ensuring high-quality food production and presentation.
  • Lead kitchen tasks, including ingredient preparation, labeling, and storage, as well as maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
  • Exhibit working knowledge of all kitchen equipment and experience in menu modification.
  • Ensure food production meets food quality, accurate portion control, consistency of recipes, and timely delivery standards.
  • Maintain well-organized kitchens reflective of safety standards established by UMOM and Maricopa County Health codes.
  • Assist with the back-of-house training portion of the Homegrown student program.
  • Communicate daily with kitchen staff to gain continuous feedback.
  • Assist with inventory of all program supplies and work with Social Enterprise and Residential Dining Managers to manage related expenses.
  • Represent UMOM to the trainees, community, businesses, and social service organizations.
  • Understand the importance of data, reporting, and outcomes to running an impactful program.
  • Assume 100% responsibility for quality of products served.
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Minimum two years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking in a fast-paced food service environment required.
  • Experience with inventory process and procedures preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

This position is very active and requires standing, moving, bending, stooping, lifting, and reaching all day. The duties of this job require regular exposure to kitchen conditions including heat, cold, humid, wet, smoke, and loud noises.

Work Schedule:

This position must have flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. This full-time position typically works 5 days each week (40 hours) with 2 consecutive days off. Shifts typically fall between the hours of 5am and 7pm.
