Job Summary

This Surgical Technologist II role is an integral part of our team at Baylor Scott & White Health, where we strive to provide exceptional patient care and promote a culture of safety and excellence.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting surgical teams in the operating room, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow. This includes preparing the operative site, setting up equipment, and maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Discuss special needs with surgeons before surgery and scrub into surgery on time to prepare instruments.
  • Prepare the operative site by cleaning and clipping, as needed.
  • Organize and maintain instrument tables to avoid damage or incorrect counts.
  • Set up operating rooms according to surgical schedules, selecting and opening only necessary supplies.
  • Evaluate the proper functioning of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies during procedures.
  • Perform surgical counts of sponges, sharps, instruments, and misc. items, adhering to established policies.
  • Anticipate the needs of surgeons and staff, passing sterile supplies and equipment during procedures.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program or equivalent experience.
  • Less than 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technologist.
  • Certification as a CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) or completion of formal training in ST from Military/Public Health Service or employment in ST role in a healthcare facility prior to 9/1/2009.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer.
Estimated Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per yearBenefits
