Position Overview

Advocate Aurora Health is in search of a Staff Ultrasound Technologist to join our team in Burlington, Wisconsin.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Efficiently operates ultrasound machinery to conduct general, vascular, and cardiac examinations, ensuring accurate identification of normal and abnormal findings.
  • Reviews patient medical histories to gather essential clinical details, including prior lab results and physician directives, while ensuring alignment with exam requisitions.
  • Positions patients appropriately and selects the correct transducer and technical parameters to achieve optimal imaging results, prioritizing patient safety and comfort.
  • Utilizes advanced sonographic techniques to recognize, document, and modify procedures based on anatomical and pathological insights.
  • Accurately labels and identifies ultrasound images with patient details, including name and medical record number.
  • Maintains compliance with regulatory standards, entering patient and study data into the radiology information system, and documenting billing codes for services rendered.
  • Identifies and reports equipment performance issues, collaborating with relevant personnel to assess new technologies for potential integration.
  • Analyzes sonographic data, synthesizing findings with medical history, and communicates results to the designated physician.
  • Demonstrates the necessary knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care, understanding the principles of growth and development across the lifespan.
Licensure and Certification Requirements:
  • Registration as a Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in Abdomen and OB/GYN, or equivalent certifications, to be obtained within specified timeframes.
  • Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Vascular Sonography (VS) registration is also required within the designated period.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers must be secured within six months.
Educational Background:
  • Completion of an accredited or approved Sonography program beyond high school is mandatory.
Experience:
  • No prior experience is necessary for this position.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Proficiency in general and vascular sonographic procedures relevant to the department.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in distinguishing between normal and pathological findings.
  • Knowledge of aseptic practices and effective communication skills for patient interaction.
  • Familiarity with departmental policies and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Flexibility in scheduling and adaptability to changing work environments.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be capable of performing various physical activities, including lifting, standing, and walking throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Must have clear speech, vision, and hearing capabilities.
  • Exposure to potential hazards such as mechanical, electrical, and chemical risks; appropriate personal protective equipment is required.
