Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Scribe to join our team at Atlantic Vision Partners. As an Ophthalmic Scribe, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our ophthalmologists and optometrists in their daily activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain and document patient history, including medical and surgical history, medications, and allergies.
  • Follow the AVP care-pathing model to ensure accurate and efficient documentation of patient care.
  • Determine visual acuity and understand routine and basic medical ICD-10 codes.
  • Understand routine insurance plans and use lensometer (manual and auto) to perform eye exams.
  • Responsible for stocking rooms, understanding scheduling, and completing monthly chart audits.
  • Administer eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions to the eye as ordered by physician.
  • Perform office duties and clinical tasks, including entering data into EMR and providing patient services.
Requirements
  • Dependable transportation required to travel to other offices as required.
  • Must be flexible with traveling to various locations.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and maintain confidentiality.
  • The ability to seek instruction in areas where he/she is not knowledgeable.
  • The ability to recognize inconsistencies.
  • High School diploma or GED, associate degree preferred.
  • Billing and Coding Certification required within 1-2 years from being in role.
  • OSC Certification required within 1 year of being in role.
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the position with or without accommodation, including the ability to use power hand tools and lift a minimum of 70 lbs.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to submit to a background check (drug screen for Ambulatory Surgery Centers only).

Physical and Cognitive Requirements

Exerting up to twenty-five pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Must have close visual acuity to perform an activity including viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, interpretation, etc.

Must be able to be stationary for prolonged periods of time.

Executes tasks independently.

Learns and memorizes tasks.

Maintains concentration/focus on tasks.

Performs task in a demanding environment requiring multi-task and prioritize work.

Must be comfortable working and interacting with large groups of people daily.
