About the Role:

  • This is a full-time position that requires working varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • You will be responsible for receiving and responding to emergency and non-emergency calls, determining the nature and priority of each call, and dispatching public safety units accordingly.
  • As a Communication Specialist, you will also be responsible for operating computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems, maintaining accurate records, and providing excellent customer service to the public.
  • In addition, you will work closely with other public safety agencies to ensure effective communication and coordination.

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent certification is required.
  • You must have a valid Florida driver's license and basic FCIC/NCIC certification or the ability to obtain it within six months of hire.
  • Prior experience in emergency medical dispatch (EMD) and proficiency in using CAD systems are preferred.
