Job Summary

The Olympia School District is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Paraeducator to join our Transportation Department. As a Paraeducator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our special education students during transportation to and from school.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist bus drivers in maintaining a safe and orderly environment on the school bus.
  • Assess and provide support to special education students with health care and behavioral needs during transportation.
  • Clean and maintain the assigned vehicles to ensure a safe and healthy environment for students.
  • Instruct and supervise special education students to enforce rules and regulations and maintain safety.
  • Prepare documentation to provide written support and convey information.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Job-related experience.
  • Skills to operate standard office equipment, provide special health care needs of students, and communicate effectively with students and caregivers.
  • Knowledge of vehicle operation and special health care requirements.
  • Abilities to understand and address students with special needs, understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Right Response Certification or willingness to obtain and maintain.
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance.
  • Drug Testing Clearance.
  • First Aid Certificate.
