A leading social services organization, Tandym Group, is seeking a dedicated professional to join their team as a Veteran Peer Navigator in Suffolk County. This role is a great opportunity for a motivated individual to make a positive impact in the lives of Veterans.

  • The Veteran Peer Navigator will work closely with Veterans to assist them in achieving their goals for housing stability, including identifying and accessing available resources.
  • They will maintain a strong knowledge of VA and community resources, providing support and guidance to Veterans as needed.
  • The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively with Veterans, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
  • Responsibilities will include attending community outreach activities, educating and recruiting new program participants, and accompanying Veterans to various appointments.
  • The Veteran Peer Navigator will also be responsible for maintaining accurate case notes and confidentiality.
  • Travel across Nassau and Suffolk Counties will be required to meet with and assist Veterans as needed.

Requirements:

  • College degree or HS diploma with equivalent relevant experience
  • Must be a Veteran
  • Self-motivated and resourceful
  • Ability to use computers
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must be able to work as a team player or independently
  • Knowledge of local resources, Veteran entitlements or other benefits is a plus
  • Must have a valid NYS Driver's License
