Diesel Mechanic Job DescriptionJob Summary: We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Lakeshore Recycling Systems. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing diagnosis and preventive maintenance services, inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty diesel vehicles and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment
- Work under limited supervision and select from written instructions and established procedures to accomplish assigned tasks
- Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with Company/OSHA Standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures
- Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs
- Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns
- Conduct annual safety checks on vehicles
- Complete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times
- Assist other mechanics in the completion of project work
- Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience
- Active applicable certificates, licenses, or registrations are a plus
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations
- Able to pass pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check
- Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) most of the workday
- Required to exert physical effort in handling heavy objects throughout the workday
- Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc.)
- Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements often
- Must be eligible to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future
