Job Summary: As a Student Trainee (Environmental) at Bonneville Power Administration, you will assist in environmental compliance and analysis, conducting routine analyses and field work to ensure timely compliance with NEPA.

This position is part of the Environmental Compliance Transmission (ECT) organization, Environment, Fish and Wildlife. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in environmental science or a related field and be able to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in routine analyses of data and field work to enable higher graded employees and managers to understand project issues.
  • Conduct environmental related technical analyses and research routine environmental issues for specific project/policy circumstances.
  • Assist higher graded specialists in applying BPA policies and procedures to a variety of routine project and situations.
  • Acquire data and perform analyses and calculations.
  • Provide routine technical information to higher graded specialists.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in environmental science or a related field.
  • GS-04: Completed 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree.
  • GS-05: Completed 4 academic years of post-high school education leading to a bachelor's degree or a bachelor's degree.
  • GS-07: Completed 1 full academic year of graduate level education or eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement Provision and completion of a bachelor's degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) analyses and a variety of geospatial environments and using a variety of geoprocessing tools.
