Department Overview:
Applied Technology Services (ATS) operates as an internal service entity that delivers high-quality technical support and expertise to various business lines within Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E). Located at PG&E's Technology Center, ATS comprises a diverse team of around 130 engineers and technical professionals who engage in activities at the ATS offices, laboratories, and field locations.
The role of the Engineer is situated within the Inspection & Equipment Innovation division at ATS.
Position Summary:
The Associate Innovation Engineer is primarily tasked with aiding the new inspection technology initiative for ATS, alongside other projects that align with ATS' mission to offer innovative, high-value, and proactive solutions to PG&E's business sectors in a cost-efficient manner. Furthermore, the engineer will collaborate with senior engineers in strategic planning, project management, budgeting, communication, performance evaluation, and ongoing enhancement of the program. It is essential to ensure that the program operates effectively and efficiently for our clients while adhering to our strategic objectives.
Salary Range:
PG&E provides a salary range that reflects the company's good faith estimate for this position at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on various factors, including specific skills, education, certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity considerations. The anticipated salary for a successful candidate is expected to be around the midpoint or entry level of the range, with decisions made on an individual basis.
- Minimum Base Salary: $90,000.00
- Mid Base Salary: $113,000.00
- Maximum Base Salary: $136,000.00
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist senior staff in engaging with external research institutions, consortia, and academic entities to identify and implement innovative solutions within the Applied Technology Services (ATS) sector aimed at enhancing safety, customer satisfaction, cost efficiency, and environmental sustainability.
- Support collaboration with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to assess and operationalize new technology concepts and equipment.
- Facilitate the establishment of partnerships and garner support from internal stakeholders and leadership to prioritize projects for evaluating new inspection technologies.
- Manage project evaluation outcomes and prepare presentations and recommendations for internal clients and leadership.
- Maintain open communication with all stakeholders involved in the program, providing essential updates regarding program status.
- Identify potential innovations and cost-saving opportunities related to new and existing technologies, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives.
- Engage with clients to provide project status updates or gather additional information, ensuring that client expectations are met.
- Assist in the design and standardization of testing plans for projects, selecting appropriate standards, methods, and protocols, and reviewing these plans with senior peers or supervisors.
- Support the development of metrics to assess the program's success.
- Provide mentorship and oversight to rotational and intern engineers.
- Fulfill the responsibilities associated with the role of an ATS Engineer, Associate.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of engineering research and testing methodologies, concepts, and practices.
- Familiarity with current and emerging technologies relevant to technical testing in the specialty area.
- Knowledge of quality assurance and control principles and practices.
- Excellent investigative and analytical problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication, presentation, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Basic project management and leadership capabilities.
- Awareness of customer service principles.
- Willingness to travel 5 - 15% as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a focus on a relevant discipline (e.g., mechanical, civil, electrical engineering, computer science, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Engineering with a focus on a relevant discipline (e.g., mechanical, civil, electrical engineering, etc.).
- Professional Engineer License.
