Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation Control Technician to join our Water Resources Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of electronic and electrical operating and control systems and equipment related to water and wastewater treatment plants and facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical and electronic circuit boards, telemetry systems, and other related equipment.
  • Programs logic control systems (PLCs) and installs conduit.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on generators and bypass pumps associated with lift stations.
  • Performs permit required confined space entries for repairs of pumps, limit switches, check valves, electronic actuator valves, flow meters, transducers, and related appurtenances.
  • Plans and participates in regular preventive & predictive maintenance inspections.
  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs parts or equipment due to failure.
  • Researches and orders replacement parts using electronic requisitioning and purchasing system.
  • Calibrates and adjusts electronic flow instruments, pneumatic equipment, recorders, controllers, variable speed drives (VFDs), sensors, and meters.
  • Maintains necessary records of work activities.
  • Reviews plans and specifications for new installations.
  • Reviews inventory and requests parts as well as purchase orders.
  • Debugs process equipment; modifies existing equipment to new requirements; fabricates and installs SCADA controllers, metering, and service equipment.
  • Installs and repairs VFDs motorized valves, electrical and electronic panels.
  • Operates heavy equipment such as backhoes, track hoes, forklifts, tractors, and other related equipment.
  • Operates welding equipment as needed.
  • Maintains records of preventive maintenance and repairs.
  • Requests requisitions and POs for equipment and services.
  • Creates, completes, and reviews work orders.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Licenses/certification: Collections 2; Grade 2 Maintenance Tech., required.
  • Vocational/Technical or Associate Degree in Electrical or Electronics major preferred.
  • Two years of experience in a maintenance and repair of water or wastewater treatment equipment including electronic repair.
