Position Overview

Jess Howard Electric Company, a reputable family-owned enterprise, has been a leader in the electrical contracting sector since 1945.

We pride ourselves on building enduring partnerships with a diverse range of residential, commercial, and industrial utility clients. Our versatility as an electrical contractor allows us to undertake various types of electrical projects, including sports lighting, airport lighting, traffic signals, underground systems, pole-line, and utility work. With a dedicated workforce of over 120 employees and a fleet of 300 pieces of equipment, we are equipped to handle projects of any scale.

Role Summary

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for conducting preventative maintenance and executing repairs on our extensive fleet of heavy machinery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty machinery.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to diesel engines, hydraulics, and heavy equipment.
  • Execute preventive maintenance schedules, inspections, and winterization tasks.
  • Address equipment repair needs in the field by coordinating and conducting necessary repair activities.
  • Rectify equipment deficiencies through replacement, repair, or adjustment of components.
  • Ensure all repairs and adjustments are verified for accuracy.
  • Adhere to federal and state vehicle regulations.
  • Maintain the appearance of assigned equipment through regular cleaning.
  • Document all services and repairs to maintain accurate equipment records.
  • Assist in delivering heavy equipment to various job sites.
  • Enhance technical knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities and reviewing relevant publications.
  • Carry out additional duties as required.
Qualifications
  • 2-3 years of experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment.
  • Preferred technical or vocational school degree.
  • Class A CDL is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills are essential.
Work Environment

This position involves working in an office/shop setting, with occasional duties at job sites.

The salary range for this position is $19-25 per hour, commensurate with experience.
