Job Title: Surgical Technologist 1

Inova Health System is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our dedicated Women's Operating Room team.

Our department features eight fully functional, state-of-the-art operating rooms that provide care to patients scheduled for General Gynecology, Gynecological Oncology, Urological Gynecology, and Robotic procedures.

Other surgical specialties patients may be scheduled for, in conjunction with Gyn surgery, include Urology, General, Colorectal, and Plastics.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in preparing the operating room by opening sterile supplies, instruments, and sutures based on the scheduled procedure and surgeon preference card.
  • Follow policies for scrubbing, gowning, gloving, setting up the back table, draping, and counting with the circulating nurse.
  • Exercise care in the operation and use of instruments/equipment and report/follow the appropriate procedure for broken items.
  • Identify factors relative to the patient's age and developmental stage that must be considered during the surgical procedure.
  • Assist with pulling cases and check case carts for completeness, obtain supplies and equipment, and determine them to be in good working order before a case begins.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program preferred
  • Required Experience: None
  • Recent Hospital experience and/or previous practice experience preferred
  • Surgical Technologist registration required
  • Must be eligible for Surgical Technologist registration via Commonwealth of Virginia at time of hire. Registration must be completed within 6 months of hire.
  • BLS via AHA required
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA or Tech in Surgery – Certified (TS-C) via NCCT preferred
