Overview:
The McHenry County ROE Application Consortium is seeking a dedicated School Social Worker to provide essential services that promote the growth and development of students. This role is pivotal in addressing the educational and psychosocial needs of students facing various challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage in consultations with educational staff and families to enhance program development, prevention strategies, early interventions, and student assessments.
  • Contribute actively to various teams, including crisis intervention and student services, to support comprehensive student care.
  • Conduct thorough social and emotional assessments, translating student information into actionable insights for educators and families.
  • Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions aimed at resolving issues and fostering essential skills within the educational context.
  • Stay informed on current research, child development theories, and socio-economic factors impacting social work and education.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design and deliver professional development sessions, newsletters, and resources for educators and parents.
  • Assist parents in understanding their children's unique needs and provide guidance on child development and related concerns.
  • Act as a bridge between the school and community resources, ensuring a holistic approach to student support.
  • Maintain compliance with legal standards and ethical guidelines relevant to social work practice.
  • Document and manage various forms of student progress, including goal setting and behavioral plans.
  • Foster a positive school environment by building respectful relationships with students, staff, and community members.
  • Participate in crisis intervention efforts, providing support during critical incidents.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License.
  • School Social Work endorsement.
  • Master's Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification.
  • Preferred minimum of 2 years of experience in school social work.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient in report writing and documentation.
  • Familiarity with special education laws and policies.
  • Must obtain LSW within 2 years of employment.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
  • Exhibit flexibility, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Physical demands include sitting, standing, bending, walking, and lifting materials.
  • High levels of concentration and organization are essential.
