Youth Counselor

This position provides counseling and performs security and safety duties in a juvenile school for youths under supervision. The successful candidate will assure that the physical needs of assigned youths are maintained in the areas of food, clothing and general health. Additionally, this role will provide case management assistance and other treatment services to youths, as well as maintaining order and discipline within the school.
Responsibilities
- Provide counseling and support to youths in a residential program setting
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for youths and staff
- Assist with case management and treatment planning for youths
- Develop and implement programs to promote positive behavior and life skills in youths
Requirements
- Experience working with youth in a residential or correctional setting
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
Working Conditions
This position requires working in a residential program setting, which may include working with youths who have behavioral or emotional challenges. The successful candidate must be able to work in a team environment and maintain a professional demeanor in a challenging setting.
Salary and Benefits
This position is in pay schedule and range 05-31 with a starting pay of $33.66/hour. The State of Wisconsin offers a competitive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a pension plan and paid time off.
