Retail Category Supervisor

We are seeking a seasoned Retail Category Supervisor to oversee the operations of the grocery, dairy, frozen, and non-perishable departments at Gecko New York in Pawtucket, RI.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring inventory accuracy, optimizing product placement, and leading a team to deliver outstanding customer service. This role requires a strong leader who can drive sales, manage department operations, and maintain high standards for merchandising and store presentation.

• Manage daily operations of the center store departments, including grocery, dairy, frozen, and non-perishable sections.
• Oversee merchandising strategies to ensure shelves are stocked, product placement is optimized, and displays are appealing to customers.
• Monitor inventory levels, order products, and coordinate with vendors to ensure timely deliveries and accurate stock levels.
• Train, supervise, and schedule department staff, providing coaching and performance evaluations to support team development.
• Analyze sales trends, develop strategies to meet sales targets, and report on department performance.
• Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, and store policies, maintaining a clean and organized department.
• Develop and implement promotional strategies to drive sales and customer engagement.
• Resolve customer inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally to maintain satisfaction.
• Collaborate with store leadership to align department goals with overall business objectives.
• Control expenses by managing shrink, waste, and labor effectively.

• 3+ years of experience in grocery retail management, preferably in center store or similar departments.
• Strong knowledge of inventory management, merchandising, and category management.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team in a high-volume environment.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with attention to detail.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in retail management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

• $55,000 - $70,000 per year, depending on experience, with potential performance-based bonuses.
