Job Title: GIS Technician I

We are seeking a highly skilled GIS Technician I to join our team at ASRC Federal Holding Company. As a GIS Technician I, you will play a critical role in maintaining the accuracy and completeness of the Census MAF (Master Address File)/TIGER (Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing System).

Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate, edit, and check street centerline, hydrography, and other data layers using custom map production tools.
  • Using computer software, revise and edit GIS drawings and files, making edits according to supervisor instructions.
  • Add or delete highlighted boundary or shape files.
  • Read instructions provided with shape files.
  • Reshape road layers that should not overlap with hydro layers.
  • Maintain live spatial data in a secured environment.
  • Edit, modify, and create various data layers.
  • Work with customized data automation tools and procedures to maintain a daily production schedule.
Requirements:
  • Certificate in GIS or an Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Coursework with ArcGIS (workstation and desktop); Arc View, AutoCAD Map.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Some knowledge of civil engineering, cartography, surveying, and drafting.
  • Experience with ArcSDE, ArcIMS, Cartography, Imagery, and understanding of Databases is a plus.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and share GIS knowledge with other team members.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
