Senior Collections Specialist

The LaSalle Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Collections Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing our client's company's accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payment and maintaining strong relationships with clients.
Key Responsibilities:- Monitor and manage the collection of outstanding invoices from customers, ensuring timely payment
- Review accounts on a regular basis to identify overdue payments and implement action plans for collection
- Analyze customer account balances, resolve discrepancies and reconcile accounts when necessary
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to facilitate smooth payment processes and ensure satisfaction
- Proactively reach out to clients via phone, email or other means to follow up on outstanding payments
- Serve as the main point of contact for escalated issues, such as payment disputes or complicated accounts
- Generate and present detailed reports on accounts receivable status, aging reports and collection forecasts to management
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to collections and recommend process improvements to meet goals
- Assist with cash flow forecasting based on collection timelines and historical data
- Assess customer creditworthiness and recommend credit limits in collaboration with the finance team
- Monitor customer payment behavior and adjust collection strategies to mitigate financial risk
- Collaborate with the credit team to implement or adjust terms based on changing business conditions
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, invoice errors and any disputes raised by customers in a timely manner
- Work with internal departments such as operations, sales and customer service to resolve customer issues that may affect payments
- Review current collections practices and procedures, recommending and implementing changes for greater efficiency
- Leverage technology and software tools to streamline the collections process
- Mentor and support junior collections staff, providing guidance on best practices
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field preferred
- 5+ years of experience in collections, preferably in a logistics, transportation or similar industry
- Proven track record in managing large customer portfolios and resolving complex accounts
- Strong knowledge of accounts receivable and collections processes
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- High level of analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
