Cafeteria Helper

We are seeking a Cafeteria Helper to join our team at the Hawaii State Department of Education. As a Cafeteria Helper, you will be responsible for assisting with food preparation, serving, and cleaning in the school cafeteria.

• Assist with food preparation, including cooking, serving, and cleaning.
• Coordinate with other food service employees to ensure menu items are prepared in a timely manner.
• Clean and maintain work areas, serving counters, dining areas, and washrooms in a neat, clean, sanitary, and orderly manner.
• Wash pots, pans, plates, and other kitchen equipment and utensils.
• Receives provisions ordered, documents product temperature if applicable, and reports discrepancies to School Food Services Manager.

• Ability to read, write, and understand oral and written English.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform simple arithmetic.
• High school diploma or GED and/or work experience that required the cited abilities.

This is a temporary position with the possibility of extension year to year, dependent upon funding and departmental needs.
