Job Title: Jockey Truck Driver
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Jockey Truck Driver to join our team at Gateway Terminal. As a Jockey Truck Driver, you will be responsible for safely moving Jockey trucks and trailers within the yard, prioritizing tasks with the Operations team, and accurately reporting equipment statuses and productivity information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate Jockey trucks and trailers within the yard, including empty and loaded material trailers.
- Work with the Operations team to prioritize tasks and ensure efficient yard operations.
- Accurately report equipment statuses and productivity information to the shipping supervisor.
- Perform yard audits to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Ensure Jockey trucks and trailers are in safe working order, including pre- and post-trip inspections.
- Place wheel chocks under trailers and check Jockey truck gauges, oil, water, and battery daily.
- Change trailer settings as needed and refuel truck fuel as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations team.
Requirements:
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without Visa sponsorship.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Ability to effectively operate independently with minimal supervision.
- Willing to work a flexible schedule.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and carry out simple instructions from oral instructions or written correspondence.
- Must be able to work in a cold/hot environment.
- Detail-oriented and accurate.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- CDL or comparable work experience.
- Ability to communicate via 2-way radio.
- Truck dispatch experience and better practices.
Work Environment:
The work environment involves hazards, risks, or discomforts typical of working around machinery with exposed moving parts, hazardous chemicals, heavy equipment, extreme heights, or abusive or hostile clientele and patients. Exposure to disagreeable weather conditions and extreme levels of temperature, ventilation, lighting, and sound is normal. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
