The Dietary Aide plays a vital role in maintaining clean and sanitary conditions of food service areas, facilities, and equipment. This position requires a strong ability to work independently and manage meal service for 20 residents.
Key Responsibilities- Handle, transport, and plate food for residents, guests, and employees.
- Prepare and serve meals according to dietary guidelines and recipes.
- Assist other kitchen staff as needed and perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
- Ensure sufficient food is prepped and prepared, and communicate with the supervisor about shortages or outages.
- Maintain all daily logs, postings, and documentations required for meal services.
- Stock and clean stations for the next shift, and follow proper food rotation policies.
- Handle food and equipment according to sanitation policies and procedures, and operate equipment safely.
- Deliver and retrieve food carts to and from satellite kitchens, and set up service lines for meal service.
- Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes and utensils from meal services, and monitor and control the use of soap and cleaning agents in the dishwasher.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout work areas, and perform daily or scheduled cleaning duties according to established policies and procedures.
- Scrubs and mops floors, cleans and sanitizes equipment, and inventories and stocks food and paper goods in satellite kitchens.
- Prepare snacks and beverages for between-meal service to residents, and report malfunctioning equipment to the executive chef.
- Consistently maintain a positive attitude that supports a team environment, and promotes positive public relations with residents, family members, and guests.
- Maintain safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security.
- High School diploma (or equivalent) or technical school.
- Strong ability to work independently and manage meal service for 20 residents.
- Some food service work experience required.
- Great communication skills are required.
This position entails standing for long periods of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to communicate effectively with others, sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle keyboard, telephone, paper, files, and other equipment and objects. The employee must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to review detailed documents and read computer screens. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee may frequently bend, reach, grasp, and climb. The employee may basically squat and kneel. The work environment requires appropriate interaction with others. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Occasional travel to different locations may be required.
