Position Overview and Requirements
  • Responsible for acquiring high-quality radiographic images of patients both within the facility and utilizing portable imaging equipment in a timely manner.
  • Adheres to radiation safety protocols to protect both patients and self. Employs Personal Protective Equipment and operates imaging devices with proficiency and safety.
  • Exhibits competence in performing essential computer tasks (such as Meditech and PACS). Ensures accurate charge entry and verifies orders from referring physicians.
  • Provides patient care with professionalism and respect.
  • Prepares imaging rooms for radiographic and fluoroscopic examinations. Monitors supply inventory during room usage. Maintains cleanliness and organization of workspaces and changing areas.
  • Assists the radiologist in the administration of medications, contrast materials, and various forms of patient care.
  • Evaluates each imaging study for technical precision (including markers on images, image quality, anatomical alignment, and annotations) and completes the verification process in PACS.
  • Supports the Diagnostic Supervisor with PACS maintenance tasks, such as cleaning CR plates, erasing cassettes, and managing exam submissions from workstations.
  • Completes and upholds personal educational requirements.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality concerning employee and patient information in accordance with established policies and procedures.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

REQUIRED: Graduate from an AMA accredited Radiologic Technology program. Responsible for obtaining continuing education credits as required by the ARRT for licensure.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: (mandatory)

Required: American Registry of Radiologic Technology (to be obtained within 6 months of employment)

Required: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers

Preferred: Membership in the Society of Radiologic Technology

Preferred: Membership in the Virginia Society of Radiologic Technology

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Preferred: At least one year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
