Job Description

As a Horizontal Construction Engineer in the Army National Guard, you'll play a crucial role in preparing construction sites for building and infrastructure projects. Your primary responsibility will be to operate heavy equipment such as bulldozers, roadgraders, and cranes to clear and prepare the site for construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze site information and place grade stakes to ensure accurate leveling
  • Operate heavy equipment to clear and excavate construction sites
  • Spread fill material and transport heavy construction equipment
  • Assist in the performance of combat engineer missions
Skills You'll Learn
  • Maintenance and repair of heavy equipment
  • Identification of soil types and placement of grade stakes
Requirements
  • Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
  • Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
  • Must meet citizenship requirements

Through your training, you'll develop the skills and experience to enjoy a civilian career in construction and engineering principles. You may also earn specialized certifications that enable you to step right into a civilian construction career.
