Position Overview
The Senior Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) at UCLA Health plays a crucial role within the Homeless Healthcare Collaborative (HHC) mobile clinic team. This position involves collaborating with a dedicated clinical team to deliver essential medical services to individuals experiencing homelessness across Los Angeles, directly within their communities. The mobile clinic provides care in various settings, including streets, encampments, and interim housing facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Under the direct guidance of designated clinical personnel, the Senior LVN will:
- Deliver direct patient care to a diverse population.
- Collaborate with clinic management, physicians, residents, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain high standards of care while recognizing critical signs and symptoms of medical emergencies.
- Coordinate and prioritize tasks in accordance with departmental protocols.
Compensation
Pay Range: $45.66 per hour
Qualifications
Required:
- Active LVN license issued by the State of California with certification in Intravenous Therapy and blood withdrawal.
- Current CPR BLS certification from a recognized organization.
- Valid California Driver's License.
- Ability to perform vital sign assessments, administer medications, and manage drug refills.
- Competence in identifying abnormal laboratory results and communicating findings to physicians.
- Understanding of common and life-threatening medical conditions.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative work environment.
- Proficiency in phlebotomy, CPR, injections, and other relevant skills.
- Demonstrated computer literacy, including familiarity with patient care systems.
- Knowledge of safety protocols for handling biohazardous materials.
- Effective verbal communication skills for conveying sensitive information.
- Ability to operate the HHC mobile unit.
- A minimum of two years of experience as an LVN.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with instruments and supplies for physical examinations.
- Fluency in written and spoken Spanish.
- Personal experience with homelessness.
- Experience working with homeless populations.
- Background in limited-resource environments.
- Experience in community-based healthcare settings.
