Our team focuses on tax compliance and consulting for complex and well-known funds in the industry.

As a Chief Taxation Strategist, you'll be responsible for providing detailed review and analysis of complex Private Equity, Hedge Fund, and/or FoF partnership tax returns. You'll also serve as a Career Advisor by training, developing, mentoring, and coaching one or more employees, providing honest and timely performance feedback.

Additional responsibilities include working on multiple complex issues, communicating in a non-technical manner to facilitate client-service team communication, managing risk for both the client and the firm, serving as the Tax client service coordinator for appropriate clients, advising clients on RSM's tax services, reviewing research findings, and ensuring conclusions are consistent with firm policies and professional standards.

You'll also assist with new business development, extended services, and tax issue recognition for existing clients, manage client needs in conjunction with cross-functional engagement teams across the tax practice, and remain up-to-date on current tax practices and changes in tax law.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in business taxation working for a Big 4 or a large national, regional, or local accounting firm; or equivalent in industry or with a law firm
  • Active CPA, JD/LLM, or EA
  • Prior tax compliance and consulting experience serving Asset Management clients
  • Working knowledge of tax code and technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance
  • Ability to work closely with clients to answer questions or collect necessary information for tax service requirements
  • Proven track record managing client engagements from start-to-end
