Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Insurance Defense Trial Attorney to join our team in Lafayette, LA.
About the Role
As an Insurance Defense Trial Attorney at State Farm, you will be responsible for handling litigation and other legal assignments in accordance with guidelines established by the Law Department.
You will prepare and summarize reports for proceedings, develop trial strategies, and attend litigation events including trials, mediations, depositions, and hearings.

Requirements
- Previous Experience Required
- 10+ years of litigation experience, preferably insurance defense or personal injury
- Significant medical malpractice or worker's compensation experience will be considered
- Key Skills Required
- Jury trial, mediation, deposition experience
- File ownership
- Knowledge of local and state discovery rules, trial procedures, and applicable substantive law commensurate with level of experience
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work in a team setting
- Technology/Software Experience Required
- Ability to work efficiently with cases in electronic form
- Working knowledge of a Case Management system
- Working Knowledge of a Document Storage system
- Education Requirements Including Licenses and Certifications
- J.D. from an A.B.A. Accredited Law School, with excellent academic credentials.
- Must have an active law license to practice and a member in good standing with the State of Louisiana.

The estimated salary for this position is $115,000 - $150,000 per year, plus potential yearly incentive pay up to 24%.
