Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team at Aperture Group, a leading Systems Integrator providing automated solutions in various industries. As part of the Automated Vehicle Engineering group, you will play a key role in designing, validating, and troubleshooting electrical and control systems for AGVs and AMRs. Qualified candidates must be able to work onsite in the Detroit Metro area.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical systems for Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) according to requirements.
  • Create design specifications, schematics, and component layouts for control and electrical systems.
  • Ensure designs are completed within the allocated budget and scope.
  • Create and maintain documentation for testing, as-built conditions, and system operations.
  • Evaluate and select electrical components and ensure conformance with relevant standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA).
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to address technical challenges, risks, and design improvements.
  • Provide remote troubleshooting support to customers and commissioning teams for AGV-related issues.
  • Support the manufacturing process during the build and testing phases of AGVs.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of electrical design experience
  • Ability to read and design electrical schematics and layouts
  • AGV or AMR experience
  • Remote and in-person electrical troubleshooting experience
  • Experience with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical preferred
  • Automation equipment design experience preferred (panels, power distribution, control devices, wire routing, etc.)
