Salary Information

This part-time position offers an estimated salary of $80-$120 per hour, depending on the number of assessments completed.


Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Optometrist to perform comprehensive eye exams on United States Veterans as part of the VA's SHA process. The successful candidate will review medical health records through a secure Web Portal and conduct thorough eye exams, completing forms through the portal.


The Optometrist will NOT make determinations; the VA makes all determinations. This is NOT a treating role; this position only provides assessments.


Responsibilities include reviewing and assessing 3-6 Veterans per day on average. This position will be brought on as a 1099 Independent Contractor.


Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Be interested in performing comprehensive eye exam assessments versus traditional patient care & treatment.
  • Analyze data from medical records and exam findings to complete forms and form medical opinions.
  • Completed forms must be submitted within 24 hours after an exam.
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills.


Essential Qualifications

To do the job successfully, you must:

  • Hold a current license in Louisiana as an Optometrist.
  • Be able to perform Visual Field Testing (VFT).
  • Meet the credentialing requirements set forth by the VA.
