Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in the continuous development of a Laboratory Information Management System, focusing on sample tracking, metadata management, and workflow control for clinical laboratories and high-throughput DNA sequencing.
  • Collaborate with management and laboratory personnel to comprehend workflows and establish requirements that streamline sample receipt, processing, location management, and delivery documentation.
  • Enhance workflows to boost efficiency, fault tolerance, and error handling.
  • Work closely with team members on requirements analysis, design, configuration, change management, documentation, accessibility improvements, compliance, security, and quality assurance.
  • Participate in the prototyping and testing phases of new software solutions.
  • Prepare comprehensive documentation and deliver end-user training and support as needed.
  • Foster productive working relationships and maintain effective communication with colleagues and end-users.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in object-oriented design and data modeling using contemporary technologies.
  • At least five (5) years of software development experience with Java and associated technologies/frameworks.
  • Three (3) years of experience with databases and SQL queries.
  • Proficiency in the following programming languages/technologies: Spring, Bootstrap, XML, SQL, MySQL, Maven, JUnit, Web Services, REST.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a production team, contributing to design, testing, and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management abilities.
  • Willingness to learn about modern molecular biology and NextGen Sequencing concepts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering.
  • Experience in a similar environment is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as AngularJS and/or React.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
