Join Fairmount Park dba FanDuel Sportsbook & Horse Racing as a Pre-Race Veterinarian and play a critical role in ensuring the integrity and safety of horse racing. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting thorough pre-race physical inspections of every horse entered to race, identifying potential health risks, and providing expert recommendations to stewards.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct pre-race physical inspections of horses, including visual checks for signs of lameness, heat, softness, or swelling, and jogging horses to assess their well-being.
- Supervise the identification of each horse coming into the test barn by tattoo number.
- Conduct post-race inspections for signs of lameness and exercise-induced pulmonary hemorrhage (bleeding).
- Report results in writing to stewards with recommendations.
- Maintain a sick and injured list in conjunction with the veterinarian.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required by the commission, stewards, and/or supervising veterinarian.
This is a part-time position with a competitive salary range of $108,000 - $140,000 annually. If you are a licensed veterinarian with extensive knowledge in equine medicine and a passion for horse racing, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
