Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Polysomnography Tech to join our team at Beacon Health System. As a Polysomnography Tech, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders, including polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services, patient care and education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect, analyze and integrate patient information to identify and meet specific needs.
  • Determine final testing parameters and procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician and/or medical director and laboratory protocols.
  • Complete and verify documentation, explaining pre-testing, testing and post-testing procedures to patients.
  • Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing, applying electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards.
  • Perform physiologic calibrations to ensure proper signals and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Evaluate sleep study-related equipment to ensure proper function and perform routine and complex equipment care and maintenance.
  • Respond to study participant inquiries by providing appropriate information.
  • Perform polysomnographic, diagnostic and therapeutic services in accordance with established department policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in polysomnography or equivalent experience and documented proficiency at all competencies required of a Sleep Technician.
  • Certified (or eligible) as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), Sleep Disorders Specialty (SDS).
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers and professional certifications.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills necessary for effective communication with patients, families, technicians and aides.
Working Conditions

Works in a patient care environment with potential exposure to chemicals, chemical vapors and blood-borne pathogens.

Physical Demands

Requires the physical ability and stamina to perform the essential functions of the position, including walking/standing for prolonged periods, pushing carts/wheelchairs up to 50 pounds, positioning/lifting patients at a maximum of 35 pounds unassisted, and providing CPR.
