Our Medical Intensive Care Unit offers numerous opportunities for nursing professionals to enhance their skills with advanced devices, including CRRT and ECMO, alongside leadership roles. We utilize a multidisciplinary team approach to patient care, catering to individuals weighing a minimum of 40kg and generally aged 16 years and older.

Common diagnoses treated in our unit include:

  • Pulmonary Hypertension
  • Severe Septic Shock
  • Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS)
  • Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
  • Organ Failures
  • Bone Marrow Transplant
  • Post Cardiac and Respiratory Arrest
  • Alcohol and Drug Withdrawal
  • GI Bleed
  • Patients with extensive preexisting comorbidities requiring specialized teams such as Nephrology and Infectious Disease.
Function/Duties of Position

$8,000 Hiring Bonus available for candidates with a minimum of one year of acute care hospital registered nurse experience.

The Clinical Registered Nurse (RN) at OHSU provides compassionate, evidence-based, and efficient care to individuals, families, and communities. The care delivered by the Clinical RN aligns with the Oregon Nurse Practice Act, the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics. The Clinical RN embodies the professional roles of scientist, leader, practitioner, and knowledge transferor, engaging in collaborative decision-making, innovation, and lifelong learning.

Required Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program (BSN) required within 30 days of the start date.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required within 30 days of the start date.
  • Associate degree Nurses must enroll in a BSN program within three years of hire and complete it within five years.
  • Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License.
  • Minimum of one year of critical care RN experience.
  • BLS certification at the time of hire, issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • ACLS certification at the time of hire.
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the position with or without accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CCRN certification preferred.
Additional Details
  • Orientation length for experienced nurses varies based on prior experience and may include OHSU & Nursing New Employee Orientation.
  • Bonus eligibility excludes current OHSU, Adventist, and Hillsboro Medical Center employees.
