Job Summary

The Senior Project Engineer plays a key role in assisting and supporting the Project Manager on assigned projects. This position involves working under direct supervision, performing routine daily activities, and gathering and distributing information.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with project architects, designers, owners, subcontractors, and field personnel.
  • Generate Request for Information (RFI) and submittals.
  • Manage project subcontractors, including coordination, procurement of materials and equipment, monitoring budget and cost, and managing billings.
  • Act as the information hub to ensure continuity of work.
  • Offer technical information to project supervisors to ensure work complies with applicable codes, drawings, and specifications.
  • Prepare and execute subcontracts and subcontractor change orders, including time extensions. May prepare and execute owner change orders.
  • Provide estimating services.
  • Monitor and track project quality control metrics and activities on a regular basis, provide timely and accurate quality reports, and raise issues to the Project Manager or Superintendent as appropriate.
  • Inspect all work to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Maintain critical project logs (submittal, change order, etc.).
  • May supervise staff, including establishing and communicating performance expectations, providing positive and constructive feedback, and conducting on-the-job training of project engineers and interns.
  • May be responsible for managing project schedule with the project Superintendent.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of a four-year degree program in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience assisting or supervising construction projects of increasing complexity.
  • Full knowledge of computer software, i.e. MS Word, Excel, Project. Knowledge of Primavera scheduling software a plus.
  • Experience with Project Controls software (Timberline, Prolog or equal).
  • Working knowledge of Autocad or Revit a plus.
  • Broad knowledge of LEAN and BIM techniques.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
Work Environment

BNBuilders operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

We believe in collaboration, team building, and a strong supervisor/employee relationship. To accomplish this, the duties of this role are not performed in a remote capacity, and we expect that all employees will complete work in an office/job site setting.
