Job Location: Not SpecifiedRole Summary:

The Lumberyard Associate will engage with customers in the lumberyard, operate forklifts, manage inventory, and provide essential support within the store environment.

Supervisory Duties:
  • No supervisory responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcome customers as they enter the lumberyard.
  • Safely and accurately load and unload products for customers, vendors, and company vehicles.
  • Address customer inquiries regarding products.
  • Notify management of any customer complaints or requests promptly.
  • Organize, stock, and rearrange building materials in the yard and warehouse.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections on forklifts in accordance with company policies.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the lumberyard and warehouses by properly stacking products and disposing of waste.
  • Confirm that customer or vendor tickets match the merchandise being loaded.
  • Protect exposed materials as necessary to prevent damage from weather conditions.
  • Cut lumber and other materials as per customer requests.
  • Operate forklifts safely and efficiently.
  • Participate in all store meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform additional related tasks as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Ability to follow a series of instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain professionalism and courtesy at all times.
  • Understanding of weight distribution and loading techniques.
  • Capability to adjust machine or vehicle controls quickly and accurately.
  • Must complete all company training and certification requirements for equipment operation, including obtaining forklift certification.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Forklift operator certification required.
  • Successful completion of on-the-job training, including levels 1 and 2 of the positional training.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand and move around the yard and warehouse for extended periods.
  • Must utilize the three-point hold when entering trucks and/or forklifts.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 pounds regularly, occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds, and push/pull loads of 50 pounds.
  • Capacity to perform repetitive movements over long durations.
  • Willingness to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions.
