Mental Health Technician

Job Summary:The Mental Health Tech will provide direct and indirect patient care on various hospital units, working under the direction of a registered nurse or lead mental health Unit Coordinator. This role requires a strong ability to engage with patients, ensure their safety, and provide a clean and comfortable environment.
Responsibilities:- Provide direct patient care, including personal care, engagement, and comfort.
- Monitor patients for safety and provide information on therapeutic activities.
- Work closely with nurses and other unit staff to ensure coordinated and therapeutic functioning of the treatment milieu.
- Assist in training and mentoring new employees.
- Chart patient interactions and engagement, as well as patient presentation, on an hourly basis.
- Record evidence of safety rounds and any anomalies that occur on the unit during the shift.
- Must be 21 years of age and a High School graduate or have an equivalent to a High School diploma.
- At least two (2) years of college in a related field and/or be a Certified Nurses Assistant and have at least two (2) years of experience in healthcare as a technician, optimally in a psychiatric setting.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing.

Works indoors in a temperature-controlled environment on a carpeted or tiled work surface. May be exposed to occasional slippery floors, objects on floors, chemicals, and/or sharp objects. May be exposed to hazardous materials, blood-borne pathogens, and communicable diseases. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
