Pipefitting Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for laying out, assembling, installing, and maintaining piping systems, supports, and associated hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for various applications including steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubrication, sprinkling, and industrial processing systems. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Cut, thread, and shape pipes to specifications using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and benders.
  • Secure pipes to walls, structures, and fixtures, including radiators or tanks, utilizing brackets, clamps, tools, or welding equipment.
  • Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading accurately.
  • Plan the layout, installation, or repair of pipe systems according to specifications.
  • Select appropriate pipe sizes, types, and related materials, including supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, based on project requirements.
  • Modify, clean, and maintain piping systems, units, fittings, and related machinery and equipment, adhering to specifications and employing hand and power tools.
  • Install automatic controls to regulate piping systems effectively.
  • Operate valves to shut off steam, water, or other gases or liquids from pipe sections using valve keys or wrenches.
  • Replace worn components as necessary.
  • Inspect work sites for obstructions and ensure that installations do not compromise structural integrity.
  • Utilize motorized pumps to remove water from flooded areas as required.
  • Apply protective coatings to nonferrous piping materials to prevent erosion or galvanic and electrolytic action.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required for this Position:

Education: No minimum educational requirements.

Certifications/Licenses: NCCER certification, a Valid Driver's License, and a TWIC Card are required.

Experience: A minimum of 4 years of Journeyman level experience is necessary.
