Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Class B Driver to join our team at Wismettac. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for delivering products to customers in a timely and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive delivery trucks in an efficient and safe manner, adhering to all traffic rules and regulations.
  • Deliver products over established routes or within an established territory, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Load and unload merchandise at customer locations, handling items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with customers, providing exceptional service and support.
  • Perform pre-trip, in-route, and post-trip inspections on equipment, reporting any defects or issues immediately.
  • Operate company vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
  • Submit all required paperwork and documents in a timely manner, including logs and reports.
  • Collect payments from customers and forward them to the office department, as needed.
Requirements
  • Valid Class B commercial driver's license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years of previous driving experience in delivery vehicles preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Knowledge of traffic rules and regulations, as well as DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspection, and maintenance.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, as well as bend and twist to load and unload merchandise.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent changes in route and schedule.
Working Conditions

Truck driving can be a physically demanding job, requiring long hours of sitting and driving, as well as loading and unloading cargo. However, with modern trucks featuring comfortable seats, better ventilation, and improved cabs, the work environment has become less taxing. CDL Drivers may work 50 or more hours a week, with shifts starting late at night or early in the morning. They may also be required to drive long distances, potentially spending 2-4 days away from home.
