The Registered Nurse performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act. Utilizes therapeutic communication in daily practice. Maintains a safe therapeutic environment. Identifies nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient.
- Assesses, plans, and evaluates patient care needs and carries out physician orders
- Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, and monitors vital signs
- Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems
- Instructs and educates patients and families as part of a Multidisciplinary Care Planning team
The patients in 4North are primarily abdominal, thoracic, and gynecological patients getting Whipples, esophagostomies, prostatectomies, hysterectomies, and lung, colon, or stomach resections. Most of our patients will have drains, chest tubes, and/or PCA pumps post-op.
Requirements- Registered Nurse from an accredited school of nursing
- Current Licensure with Tennessee Board of Nursing
- BLS within 30 days of hire
- ACLS within 6 months of hire
- One year of clinical nursing experience preferred
