Job Summary

At Charles Schwab, we're seeking a highly skilled AWS Cloud Cybersecurity Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our cybersecurity team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring security measures for the protection of AWS Cloud Infrastructure and integrations.

This is a hybrid position, working out of one of our listed locations. To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in cybersecurity, with experience managing security controls with AWS. You will also need to have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to technical and people leaders in the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and monitor security measures for the protection of AWS Cloud Infrastructure and integrations.
  • Maintain, lead, and challenge the security footprint to bring continuous advancement and maturity.
  • Assist IT operations and security owners to implement scalable security capabilities and processes.
  • Research and recommend new security technology capabilities and their applicability within the greater organization, evangelize, and deliver.
  • Shape the organization's security policies and standards for use in AWS cloud environments.
  • Interpret security and technical requirements into business requirements and communicate security risks to relevant partners ranging from business leaders to engineers.
  • Advise and influence multi-disciplinary teams in implementing and operating Cyber Security controls.
  • Collaborate with application developers and database administrators to deliver creative solutions to difficult technology challenges and business requirements.
  • Apply adept understanding and experience with systems automation platforms and technologies.
  • Provide domain expertise on information security architecture and systems engineering to other IT and business teams.
  • Implement security architectures for cloud/hybrid systems.
  • Automate security controls, data, and processes to provide improved metrics and operational support.
  • Employ cloud-based APIs when suitable to write network/system level tools for safeguarding AWS cloud environments.
  • Ensure accurate metrics of security performance, and maturity over time.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 plus years' experience managing security controls with AWS.
  • Knowledge to spot and implement new security technologies and standard methodologies into the company's cloud offerings.
  • Relevant cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, CCSK and/or AWS cybersecurity certifications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts to technical and people leaders in the organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An interest and desire to stay on top of emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and controls.
  • Experience in a highly regulated financial industry a plus.
