The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) will deliver personalized healthcare services according to a care strategy established by the healthcare team for elderly individuals, those recovering from illness, or individuals with disabilities in their residences or care facilities. Responsibilities include monitoring or reporting any alterations in health conditions. The PCA may also assist with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary duties encompass, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide companionship and emotional support
  • Accompany clients to leisure activities and medical appointments
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks as necessary to ensure a safe living environment (e.g., changing bed linens, laundry, dishes, etc.)
  • Assist clients with personal care requirements (e.g., home tasks, meal preparation, light cleaning, medication reminders, etc.)
  • Support clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
  • Encourage and teach self-care practices
  • Maintain thorough and accurate records of client care
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding all aspects of client care
  • Execute additional responsibilities as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS AND ABILITIES)

  • At least one year of caregiving experience (preferred)
  • HHA certification (preferred) or CNA certification (required)
  • Valid Driver's License, Car Insurance, and Car Registration
  • Strong clinical assessment, organizational, and communication abilities
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to effectively perform the essential functions of this role. While executing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate verbally or audibly. The employee frequently uses hands or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee may occasionally be required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate.
